Former professional football player Michael Strahan is also a twice Emmy award-winning television host and media personality. Super Bowl champion Strahan spent his 15-year career playing for the New York Giants in the National Football League. Elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014, he set the record for most sacks in a season (in 2001) and helped the Giants win the Super Bowl XLII in 2007 in his final season. His television credits include co-hosting daytime talk show Live! with Kelly and Michael from 2012 to 2016 – which earned him his two Emmy awards – and co-host of Good Morning America on ABC.
Known for his charisma and top sportsmanship, Strahan is one of just four players to lead the NFL in sacks for two seasons, and is a seven-time Pro-Bowler. His 2001 season is often thought of as one of the best seasons ever for a defensive player, and he still holds the single-season sack NFL record with 22.5 sacks. He became the first New York Giant to win the 2001 Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press, and was named Sports Illustrated 2001 Player of the Year. He received the sport’s highest honour in 2014 when he was named in the 2014 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.
Strahan’s accolades continued with his successful media career once he retired from the game, receiving two “Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host” Emmy’s for his work on LIVE with Kelly and Michael. He is also the best-selling author of Wake Up Happy: The Dream Big, Win Big Guide to Transforming Your Life, and has recently formed SMAC Entertainment with his friend Constance Schwartz.
